Minister for Communications and Digitalization on Wednesday, 21st April, 2021, visited the Postal and Courier Regulatory Commission (PCRC) as part of her tour of the agencies under the Ministry.
Staff complained about the lack of office space and inadequate vehicles to carry out their work. They asked for capacity building for effective delivery of work.
The Executive Secretary, Hamdaratu informed the Minister that they have 150 courier operators under their umbrella. She mentioned that the PCRSC saw an increase in the domestic space.
Minister, in her remarks encouraged them to take advantage of the inter agency relations or network within the sector to facilitate duties.
She advised them to regulate all delivery services including drones to increase revenue.
Mrs Owusu-Ekuful directed that the agency puts in a request for their needs. She expressed satisfaction with their work though they are understaffed. She also suggested that the team laisse with GI-KACE to develop an electronic registration and compliance platform to cut down on expenditure and make output easier.
